If you’ve been with me for a while here on Picture of the Week, you may remember this particular little cascade.  My circle of friends refer to it as the Middle Prong Fan, and I’ve photographed it numerous times… during the day, of course.  As part of this past winter’s effort, however, I decided to shoot it at night.  Inspiration actually came to me while working with a few participants in the Fall Photography workshop I help lead.  I was working with a student from this exact same vantage point and it occurred to me that I could work in the sky from this camera position.  As much as I love shooting the streams from in the stream, wading out into the stream at night has never seemed like that great of an idea – and any way from in the stream there is a wall of a ridge straight ahead, making it all but impossible to work in any sky really.  I made my way back after all the fall colors had gone, and this is what I came up with!  Orion the Hunter rising above one of my favorite little spots along Tremont Road.

More next week!
