Who knew roads could be so pretty!? I personally love shooting road scenes, for one because they offer very strong leading lines, and – especially here in the mountains – you can generally find some nice S-curves, which always makes for pleasing compositions. I also love to go driving from time to time, and what better place to do it than on one of the best drives in East Tennessee! Or at least, in my opinion anyway. 🙂
For whatever reason, it seems you can always find color hanging around somewhere on the Foothills Parkway, long after the mountainsides are done. I was just photographing them this past week even, and the week of Thanksgiving is generally considered way past peak for the Smokies, but it seems the trees don’t care and there were still some really nice patches of color to be found. I also lucked out a few mornings and had some really nice foggy conditions, as you’ll see in the images above and below.
More next week!
