This past summer I finally got the chance to visit Paris for the first time – though only for a few days (and it was a work trip, so most of my time there was spent in and out of meetings). I did manage to get out and wander around a little bit though, and of course, snap some pictures.
A colleague of mine who was also there wanted to go see the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre, so I decided to tag along since I didn’t really have a lot on my list other than seeing the Eiffel Tower from as many viewpoints as possible. Turns out the church has an amazing view of the city, which includes a nice long view of the Eiffel Tower, plus the church itself is stunning – it was a total win! Throughout the handful of days I was there I managed to see the Eiffel Tower a few more times, and I’ll call my quest to see it from multiple angles a success. I’ve shared a number of different images below, including some from inside the church and a shot I got of the Arc de Triomphe, but I wanted to take a minute to share a story about the image above.
When an image has meaning
When I got back from Paris I shared a number of images in my Instagram stories, as I typically do. One of my followers who saw the image above messaged me to ask if the photo was taken just outside the Sacré-Cœur, and I responded that it was. She went on to tell me she had been to Paris back in the late 80s and had found her faith while attending a service at that church. The image had brought back nice memories of her trip. How special is that? I asked for her email address and sent her a hi-res copy of the image so she could enjoy it in much greater detail. I love how images can take us back in the archives of our minds, transporting us to another place and time.
More next week!
