Back in the fall I mentioned during my Autumn Brilliance series that I had gone to Middle Tennessee to catch up with some friends and photograph at Savage Gulf State Park, and we also went and wandered around the Sewanee campus.  There was one picture, however, that I wanted to share, but felt it just didn’t fit with the fall color collection because, well, it was black and white.  You may have guessed by now, that that’s this week’s Picture of the Week!

The image above was taken just inside the Chapel of the Apostles – part of the college of theology on the Sewanee campus.  My friends Matt, Seth, and I wanted to go by the famous All Saints’ Chapel on the same campus, but decided to swing by here beforehand, because we were all interested to see its interior – and I’m glad we did!  The inside was stunning, almost reminiscent of the Cadet Chapel on the US Airforce Academy campus in Colorado Springs, CO. As I was walking back out, the late afternoon sun was shining through the gap in the doors, giving the scene a transcendent feel to it.  I chose to shoot it in infrared, more out of curiosity than anything, and ended up loving the result!

Well this concludes my random series of black and white images.  Since the leaves have dropped of the trees, however, I’ve been hard at work on my next series, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

More next week!
