Before spring gets too far gone, I wanted to take a quick minute to share some spring images that I’ve captured this year – one very obviously not taken here in East Tennessee. 🙂 Let me start with the image above. When my wife and I bought the property where we now live, I started a project of relocating some dogwoods and redbuds to more prominent places in the yard under the watchful eye of my friend Paul, who is an arborist (among other hats that he wears). Since I started, I’ve moved 11 trees, and all but one have survived! Paul mentioned to me that it would take several years for the trees to bloom as the move would be stressful on them, and the trees were quite young to begin with. Well, fast-forward several years and this spring we had our first blooms! Two different trees both had one bloom each, and one of those is pictured above. As you could imagine, I was quite proud of my little prodigies! In addition to the pretty bloom, I also liked how the two leaves pointed in the same direction as they unfolded, adding some additional interest to the scene.
Below in the Alternative Perspectives section, you’ll find some other flower images. The other one I’ll call attention to was a small cactus that I discovered while on a hike in New Mexico last month. The cactus was stuck to part of a cliff that I was standing on while photographing a waterfall. The waterfall images didn’t turn out to be anything special, but I really liked this little flower!
Last but not lease, I’d like to wish a happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there! My wife and I have just gotten back from the beach with my family, where I got to spend a wonderful amount of time with my dad, along with the rest of my family. I hope that the fathers reading this will also get to spend some quality time with their children.
More next week!
