I mentioned in last week’s post that the water levels in our streams this year have been terribly low.  I always tell people that stream photography is action photography, but if there’s no water, there’s no action!  That said, with low water levels and slow moving water what you DO get are really nice reflections!  Rather than going around looking for interesting cascades, what I found myself doing was looking for stretches of flat water where there was nice color on either side of the stream.  Frankly this was a really nice change of pace (all puns intended), which had the added benefit of allowing me to explore areas of the streams I would typically pass over.  I’ll admit it wasn’t he easiest of transitions because with cascades, I know what I’m looking for in a scene.  With these flat water type images I spent a lot of time asking myself, do I like what I’ve got here?  If so, how come?  If not, why?  For those of you who know me personally or have heard me speak about photography, you’ll know that this level of introspection is really fun for me.  The process was definitely an enjoyable one.

Like last week, I’ve included a number of additional images below, which I hope you’ll enjoy.

In addition to the streams, I found myself taking lots of road scene images this year – and that’ll be next week!
