Downtown Knoxville in Fall Colors
Downtown Knoxville in Fall Colors

This past spring while I was wandering around among the old home ruins at Elkmont, I happened to notice this little group of yellow trillium.  Trillium are among my favorite wild flowers, and I really enjoy the yellow trillium, but often find them sort of hard to photograph for some reason.  This particular scene, however, lent itself well to incorporating the trillium in with other elements – in this case a set of stairs.  As with last week’s Picture of the Week, when walking around the Elkmont area, it can be hard to decide what wild flowers are in naturally occurring spots, and which ones were relocated there as decorations by the folks who used to live in and around the area.  I suppose at this point it doesn’t really matter, but it is something I like to wonder about while walking around.

More next week!
