I maintain that downtown Charleston is a photography gold mine.  It’s just great!

While on our family vacation to Isle of Palms, Holly and I got up super early one morning to go to downtown Charleston.  There is an old church down there I’ve tried to capture multiple times before, and was bound and determined to find a good shot of it, so that’s where we headed.  After I convinced myself I’d tried everything there I could think of, we just decided to go for a walk toward the Battery, another favorite spot of mine.  The morning was mostly clear and the light was warm – great shooting conditions.  The funny thing was though, I was in a bit of a funk.  I’ve mentioned on here several times about my creative slump this year, and even in a place as magical as this old part of Charleston, I was feeling it.  We had a nice time, but I was convinced I hadn’t gotten anything worthwhile – that is until we got back to the beach house and I started looking through my pictures.  Oh man, I should have spent more time there! Lucky for me, downtown Charleston is the type of place you can go back to over and over again, and come away with unique scenes each time.  Case in point, whether you’re “feeling it” or not, you’re likely to come away with something!

Now, the question is, did I capture the church I was after?  You’ll have to wait till next week to find out!  😉
