Can we take a minute to be thankful? I need to take a minute to be thankful.
Today is Holly and I’s 18th wedding anniversary (it’s an adult!), and as I was flipping through pictures this morning trying to find some hallmark images from the last 18 years, it occurred to me that we have a LOT to be thankful for. I won’t sugar coat it and say it’s been all puppies and kittens – we’ve had our share of struggles, as anyone who has been married for any length of time can attest – but the good times far out weigh the tough times. We are truly blessed, and I’m looking forward to the next 18 years, come what may. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather be doing life with.
One of the things I am thankful for is our annual family beach trip, which we call Camp Manitou. It is so much fun to just go and hang out with my family at the beach, and do nothing in particular. We did something this year that I wish we’d done from the start, which is take a picture in front of the house where we stayed (see below). After several years it gets to be hard to remember where we stayed and when, so this will be a nice addition to our usual family picture. We also opted to not do the picture on the beach this year, so – for once – the lady’s hair wouldn’t be blowing all over the place, as in year’s past. 🙂 Ah the challenges of family portraits.
I hope you’ll join me today, for no reason in particular, and count your blessings.
More next week!
