For the past three weeks I’ve been sharing images I captured while on our family vacation this past summer, or Camp Manitou as we like to call it. I wanted to end the series with this amazing sunset I witnessed while walking around Habour Town. When we arrived in Hilton Head it had been raining a bit, and this particular day had been fairly gloomy. The sky was clearing around the time that the sun was supposed to set, so I grabbed my camera just to go see if any magic would happen, and happen it did! This was definitely one of the best sunsets I witnessed all year, and it was one of those sunsets that is a slow burn. At first nothing seemed to be happening, and then out of no where, some pink… then BAM! The sky was just glorious, and before I knew it I was surrounded by passers by, all stopping to take a picture of it with their phones as well. You know it’s a good one when everyone stops to look! 🙂
I’ve mentioned multiple times how I just love photographing water, and I’m particularly a sucker for still water like this where you get a nice reflection, plus throw in some boats (or a nice city skyline) and I’m in photographic heaven. Even though I don’t find the Harbour Town lighthouse to be terribly photogenic, in a scene like this it works just fine! I love the focal point of the bright light amongst all the color and boats.
More next week!
