Alright, this week’s Picture of the Week is something straight out of my imagination!

Two week’s ago I mentioned that I had been working on some projects over the winter, and this week’s picture is another one of those projects.  When we visited Bhutan back in 2016, we went in December… which is a great time, weather-wise, to visit the country, but the Milky Way isn’t appearing in the sky any more at that time.  So it’s a great time to actually see clear skies in the country… not so much on seeing what I *wanted* to see in the sky.  Such is life. 🙂

When we visited, we actually stayed past dark because I wanted to see what it would look like.  Unfortunately they turn these huge spot lights on the temple, which looks pretty from the valley, but is far too harsh if you wanted to shoot the temple with the Milky Way.  I decided the shot was impossible, even if the Milky Way had been out, so we left.  Since then though, I’ve often wandered what the Tiger’s Nest would look like under the Milky Way.  Well, this winter I decided to find out.  I had a night image of the Tiger’s Nest… and I had Milky Way images from other place… so I put them together to see what it would look like.  I did a bit of research so I would know what direction the Milky Way would be sitting, and so the image above is astronomically correct, BUT it’s a total artistic creation.  I thought it was fun though, so here you go!

More next week!
