I know I took this picture and all…. but can I just say that I love it? This is definitely one of my favorites from 2017 so far. This sunset was just AMAZING.
Anyway, I’ve talked on here multiple times about how I try to plan out my shoots when I go to new places. Basically I Google search and look at maps… ultimately trying to figure out which direction you’re facing when you’re looking at whatever it is I’m wanting to take pictures of… and then determining (as best you can anyway) if it would be a good place for sunset or sunrise light. But… the best option is really to trust the locals!
Holly and I got the opportunity to go to Bermuda earlier this year because my work sent me there. Yes, I know… it’s tough. 😉 We decided to go a few days early so we could enjoy the island together before I had to actually work (and Holly send me pictures all day to make me jealous). As usual, I was looking for a place to take pictures, and I had found what I *thought* was going to be a good place. My mind was quickly changed, however, when we went to the front desk to inquire about the public transportation on the island. The (extremely nice!) woman noticed I was carrying a tripod and so she asked if we were going to take pictures… to which I replied that, yes, we were hoping to get a good sunset. She smiled and said, “Well, if you’re hoping to see the sun actually set, you’re going to the wrong place! You should to Tobacco Bay Beach instead, AND it’s much closer!”. Mind. Changed. Holly and I jumped on a few buses and before too long we were standing on these awesome rocks, looking out over the beautiful ocean scene. As you can see, and as I’ve mentioned, the sunset ended up being absolutely AMAZING!
