One of the most iconic views of Charleston, South Carolina is of the historic homes along the seawall on East Battery Street. Known as The Battery, this was originally a defensive seawall, and was named after a Civil War era battery location at the end of the street. Today, the multi-million dollar homes that line the street are the star of the show, and are definitely a must-see if you’re in the area. Some are even bed and breakfast establishments now if you’d like to stay right there in the middle of it all.

I find that early morning is the best time to shoot the location. Right at sunrise there are not a lot of people around, save a few runners and fishermen (a classic part of the scene in my opinion). Just as the sun pops up over the horizon, the homes are bathed in its warm rays. If you show up a little earlier, you may even see some alpine glow, looking in this exact direction.
