While visiting Eastern State Penitentiary, my wife started asking some of the employees where a good place to eat would be, and several said that Rembrandt's was good, and was literally across the street from ESP (I LOVE local's recommendations). On the day we went, it turns out a bunch of restaurants in the city were having some sort of "restaurant crawl" type event, where attendees got discounted food and drinks after purchasing a special wristband. Luckily, the restaurant staff was smart enough to quickly move the "crawlers" to the bar area and then open up a back area for people just wanting to eat. Smart move, as the place was PACKED.
Holly and I ended up getting the special of the day, which was a breakfast calzone and large enough for the two of us to split. We also ordered a side of bacon to go along with our breakfast themed lunch. The Sunday brunch menu, which was available that day (a Saturday) and chock full of items that included bacon, so I was a little disappointed when the bacon showed up and was tiny strips of thinly cut bacon, cooked a little too greasy for my liking. There was plenty of it there to call it a side, just not prepared the way I would have gotten excited about. The calzone, on the other hand, was excellent. Very tasty, and as I mentioned, large enough for my wife and I to split for a nice light lunch.
