Fort Dickerson Quarry

Last week in Picture of the Week, I shared an image of our friend Nico riding a wheelie through Washington, D.C.  Nico has been staying with us for the past few weeks and we’ve had many adventures.  This week’s is another such adventure.  Nico had expressed an interest in going swimming somewhere that we could jump off a cliff, and after discussing with several friends, it was determined that Fort Dickerson in South Knox was the place to go.

One of the things that has been fun about having Nico here is his excitement for new things. He said when he got here that he had an open mind was wanting to experience all that he could while he is here. To that end, there have been a few occasions where he has joked, “I would never do this in Poland… but since I’m on vacation, why not!?”; this is an example of one of those times. He let a few of us go first, just to make sure it was safe (I mean, as safe as jumping off a cliff can be), and then off he went!

You know me, I had to document the whole thing.  After messing around with the images though, it struck me that a single frame of a person floating in air didn’t really properly catch the action.  For this week’s picture I decided to do something a little different and stack several images together to show the progression of the fall.  Good times!!
