In the sun

For the last week or two I’ve been driving to work, seeing this exact scene.  Just past the Motor Mile on Alcoa Highway, the University of Tennessee has some farm land on either side of Singleton Station Rd, and in it, sits this tree.  At around 7:40 in the morning, which is about the time I pass, the sun hits the tree perfectly as it peeks over the ridge, casting a long shadow down the hill.  Every time I would pass, I would think to myself, “man, I really need to get a picture of that before the conditions change and its gone forever”.  Well, Wednesday afternoon I asked my boss if I could come in a little late the next day, and Thursday morning I finally made it happen.  I’m sure the other commuters were wondering what in the world was so interesting that I was standing off of the highway taking pictures of, BUT… I got what I was after.  Oh, and I wasn’t even late for work!

Happy Mother’s Day!
