While I’m on a “night photos of Cades Cove with snow on the ground” kick, I guess I’ll keep going! 🙂  This past week when we got such a nice snow, my friend Ryan and I decided to venture out after dark to see what we could find.  I had really been wanting to get a shot of the Carter Shields cabin with snow on it, so we made our way back there.  Note to self… riding a bicycle on a road covered in black ice is NERVE-RACKING!!
We actually stopped several other places while we were out, and to be honest I wasn’t quite feeling it. Â The moon was SO bright, all the images were looking like day images, but with a dark sky. Â Sounds cool, but nothing was working for me after I got home and started going through my pictures… except for this one. Â We fiddled with the lighting inside for a bit, which had to be very bright to compensate for all the moon light, but in the end, I think it is a nice effect. Â The only thing missing would be a little smoke coming from the chimney… which I’ve yet to figure out how to pull off without breaking a bunch of laws (and more importantly, permanently damaging a piece of our National Heritage). Â If you’ve got any ideas, let me know!
I hope you and your family got to enjoy the snow as much as we did. Â So much fun!
