Think of Charleston, and likely some of the first images that come to mind are of The Battery. Those iconic houses are just beautiful, and the setting couldn’t be more picturesque. Frankly, we go there every time we’re in Charleston. However, this time around, I knew I wanted something slightly different. I still wanted the beautiful old homes, and something classically Charleston… just different. My search led me Colonial Lake in the Harleston Village section of Charleston.

The lake itself is really more of a pond, but it has a nice little walking trail all the way around it, and on three sides of it are some amazing houses. While we were in town the community had several landscaping projects going and so the area was full of newly planted flowers and plants. Very pretty, and well worth a stop on your next visit to Charleston!
