After spending a good number of weeks on images that I’ve captured abroad, I thought I’d take a break from the travel images and share some stuff I’ve captured around here in East Tennessee. Sometimes I get caught up in the beauty found elsewhere in the world that I forget to keep my eyes open here at home. We live in such an amazing place!
Way back in 2012, I captured a star trails image at the LeQuire cemetery in Cades Cove that also included a bunch of fireflies. Since that time I’ve tried, with varying degrees of success, to capture more images that included fireflies, but either my timing was wrong, or the image just didn’t work out so good. Well earlier this summer I managed to get the timing down (I’ll let you be the judge of how the image worked out!) and went back in the Cove at peak time for the lightning bugs. It was amazing! The fireflies were EVERYWHERE! My friend Ryan and I decided to go back to the Dan Lawson place. It proved to be a nice location to see the fireflies, and to see the Milky Way rise! Such a cool experience.
More next week!
